Description
This entire level's plot is an inside joke. All you have to know is that there's this virus named E.C. and yeah it's Peer Gynt isn't that hilarious.

E.C. Gynt is a Moderate difficulty level created by MotionIII, and it is his first Project Arrhythmia level ever created. The level's premise is based off of an ARG that MotionIII held on his YouTube channel and features a virus named E.C. as its boss.

Start

Hah, I bet you didn't expect to see me here!
- E.C., E.C. Gynt

At the center of the screen, a date is shown counting down to December 20, 2020 (referencing the launch day of the ARG). When the countdown finishes, E.C. appears and introduces himself. He proclaims that he has invaded Project Arrhythmia and will now kill the player.

Checkpoint 1

E.C. acquires his weapon of choice (a funnel) and starts shooting lightning bolts from it while spinning. He also shoots circular rings of bullets. After spinning in one direction, he switches and spins in the other direction.

Checkpoint 2

E.C. retracts his funnel and now rolls along the edges of the screen. He stops in the middle and shoots lasers in multiple directions before resuming to roll in the opposite direction.

Checkpoint 3

E.C. gets pushed out of the screen by Motion2 (shown as MotionIII's profile picture with the "III" replaced by a "2"), who steps in to save the player. He notes that MotionIII was unavailable since he was busy making a level. Unfortunately, E.C. quickly reappears and is angered that Motion2 got into his level. He summons a ring of smaller viruses around Motion2 that close in on him, presumably killing him.

Checkpoint 4

E.C. is absent from this next section, which features more rings of viruses appearing at random locations and closing in. There are also a few horizontal-moving lightning bolts.

Checkpoint 5

E.C. reappears at the center of the screen with his funnel and repeats his attack from Checkpoint 1, minus the rings of bullets. Instead, small viruses pop in from the top and bottom of the screen and explode into bullets. After this, E.C. shoots lasers and starts slowly spinning before disappearing again.

Checkpoint 6

E.C. rolls in from the left side of the screen, now giant, and begins to chase the player to the right. Walls cover the top and bottom of the screen, where more virus bombs appear as E.C. continues shooting bolts from his giant funnel. At the end of this section, E.C. shrinks down and moves to the center, lamenting that he was not able to kill the player in time using all his prefabs. He says goodbye and disappears as credits appear, thanking the levels from The Gyntening for inspiration.

Trivia

  • E.C. rolling across the screen is a reference to New Game from Just Shapes & Beats.[1]
  • This level was created and released about a month after the aforementioned ARG just for fun. The ARG culminated in a boss fight against E.C. made in Scratch. This level is loosely based around the boss fight and includes a few callbacks to it.[1]
  • The character of E.C. was originally created by a friend of MotionIII many years ago, but it was reused for this ARG.[1]
