Explorers (Cozmos)
A dark force has awakened...
Explorers is the first level in the Astral Anomaly Collection. Most of the level is a bossfight against Shard, but there is also a meteor storm halfway through.
Layout
Start
The player wakes up inside a cabin, above some sort of summoning device.
Checkpoint 1
Nikki notices the player and walks over to them.
Checkpoint 2
Suddenly, a black orb captures Nikki and starts dashing across the screen and shooting bullets. it leads the player outside, where it continues fighting until it mysteriously disappears.
Checkpoint 3
Back in the cabin, Nikki notices a power surge coming from the spot the orb disappeared from.
Checkpoint 4
A meteor storm strikes and the player escapes outside with Nikki. All is fine until a massive meteor crashes and blows her back towards the cabin.
Checkpoint 5
The player continues dodging the meteors.
Checkpoint 6
The black orb comes back, but this time the shard inside it has been exposed and it's much more powerful. Shard covers the screen in white to prevent the player from seeing their health, makes beams that fire bullets in horizontal and vertical patterns, Dashes across the screen with a vertical beam through itself, forcing the player to dash through, and spins a beam around itself. It then hits the left side of the screen and grows to three times its original size.
Checkpoint 7
Shard, now enlarged, shoots beams, pulses, and bullets at the player in a final attempt to kill them. Nikki shoots it, and the shard inside it drops to the ground.

- The meteor storm originally had nothing to do with shard. however, after some feedback from Ragdull, that was changed to fit the story more.
