Layout

Start

A purple circle shifts and grows in the center of the screen, growing larger until it becomes Hydra. From the center of the screen, Hydra attacks with lasers and bullets that transform into pulses while bouncing back and forth. They then spin the screen in a full rotation and vanish, rolling across the screen a few times afterwards before stopping as a massive purple cloud appears at the top of the screen.

Checkpoint 1

Hydra’s face appears inside the cloud and drifts back and forth. Thin lasers and large lightning bolt attacks come from the cloud as the screen scrolls to pull the player towards it. In a flash with two large lightning bolts, Hydra then reappears in the center of the screen and sends out three bullet explosions. They then form three cannons on the edges of their body that shoot out massive lasers before rotating and sending out bullets as they ascend. After moving offscreen to the top, Hydra attacks below with a laser.

Once the laser vanishes, Hydra reappears as a circle in its place and begins to send out bullet explosions. They spin faster and faster as the camera zooms in, before disappearing just as the drop starts.

Checkpoint 2

Hydra transforms into a purple box that spins while sending out small bombs that explode quickly. This is follwed with them moving to the top of the screen and attacking with spears from their body, while shooting lasers from their hands on the left and right. Hydra’s hands move up and down to create bullet explosions and attack the left and right, while they transform into a spinner that moves downwards in the center. A giant circular purple wall then zooms in towards the player to restrict movement.

The spikes on the wall extend to attack half of the screen and shoot out triangles, before it increases in size to leave view. As Hydra draws together bullets to reform themselves in the center of the screen, they rapidly slam into the sides of the screen while in a square form, while occasionally attacking with bullet explosions from the center and shooting triangle beams. They then transform into a circle that releases a few more explosions before disappearing.

Checkpoint 3

Equalizer walls appear on the left and right, and a spinning circle appears on the bottom. The screen scrolls upwards as small Hydra-like bullets rain down from the top of the screen and Hydra moves across to attack. As the scrolling slows down, a rapidly-shifting Hydra appears at the top of the screen and attacks with a flurry of lasers.

Following this, cannons appear on the left and right sides of the screen and shoot bullets across. This section continues until a brief pause before the next checkpoint starts.

Checkpoint 4

Two Hydra cannons appear in the top corners of the screen. They rotate and shoot out spreads of bullets, before disappearing as a sawblade Hydra drops down from the center. They roll around across the bottom of the screen, sending out bullet attacks upwards. Hydra then reappears at the top for the screen and moves to the left, sweeping downwards with a laser. They form a square in the center, which expands to create walls on the left and right. The screen begins scrolling rapidly, as laser bars cover space to force the player to move throughout the shifting maze.

Checkpoint 5

Hydra appears in the center of the screen as a circle, rotating and changing size while sending out bullets. Eventually, they begin to attack with sets of lasers. Hydra then disappears and is replaced by a hexagon that attacks with bullets and lasers. Alongside this, a hexagonal wall appears to surround the screen. The shapes change to triangles briefly as well, before the shape in the center changes to a white square that Hydra enters. This square then shrinks in size and attacks with sets of lasers from the center as it pulses and rotates in purple.

Checkpoint 6

The square explodes into four multicolored shapes, which rotate rapidly before dashing offscreen. Each shape then attacks individually, following this pattern:

  • Square: Falls into the top or bottom of the screen and creates a small wave.
  • Triangle: Appears on the edges of the screen and shoots lasers from its tip.
  • Hexagon: Drifts across the screen while leaving behind scattered bullets.
  • Circle: Moves across the screen while pausing to create a short-ranged pulse.

After a brief pause, these attacks repeat once again with the shapes changed. At the end of the checkpoint, the four shapes move towards the center of the screen and reform into Hydra.

Checkpoint 7

Hydra transforms into a purple version of the player and spins rapidly, releasing a flurry of bullets. They then dash off to the side as many purple clones of the player dash across from the right. This is followed with a single purple player dashing across rapidly, as a giant circular purple wall closes in. The wall spins and sends triangle bullets inwards, before scaling out of view. Two Hydra sawblades appear on both the top and bottom of the screen, moving left and right and attacking with bullets. A warning appears to signal the player to move to a location on the left of the screen as Hydra grows to a large size - with the location being their right eye. Hydra’s pupil shoots out several small lasers before they shrink and descend with a frown on their face.

The level finishes with a screen showing the name part of Void Untold, and a list of level references.
