Hysteria is a boss character created by Mc-Starz. They are the main antagonist of the Dark Delirium storyline, constantly fighting the player through possessing and manipulating unsuspecting victims.

History

Background

Dark Delirium

Hysteria first appeared in Enigma while possessing Delirium. After failing in killing the player, they returned in Monster to possess Oddball as its next victim. Oddball ultimately managed to break free, but Hysteria continued to watch Oddball, following him and the player in Careless.

In Hold On, Hysteria was revealed to be a dark monster that Delirium was sent to destroy. Delirium once again fell to Hysteria's possession and attacked the player. At the end of the level, Delirium appeared to be knocked out and was teleported, along with Oddball and Nano. Hysteria returns again quickly in Aether, this time taking control over Lumiere. After the long fight, Lumiere seals it away temporarily, as she and Nano go to search for the Heart of Darkness.

Description

When not possessing anyone, Hysteria is a dark circle with two horns. They have two red eyes, one being a + shape and the other being an X shape. They also have a red mouth.

Personality

Hysteria is twisted, insane, and manipulative. They laugh manically often out of their madness. Hysteria keeps its hosts under their control regardless of the mental stress that they are put under due to it, showing little regard for them and only seeing them as tools to assist in killing the player.

Trivia

  • Hysteria is rarely seen attacking by itself, likely because they need a host to attack through. However, they can attack without a host for a short period of time.
    • Hysteria is also seen attacking by themselves in Delete, however this was outside of Dark Delirium.
  • Hysteria’s possession has been shown to leave hosts in a distressed mental state afterwards.
  • Hysteria is not the only creature of their kind. This was revealed by Lumiere in Aether.
