Description
You will REALIZE... that there exists a third dimension.

Immune is a Moderate difficulty level made by MotionIII, and it is his sixth uploaded level overall. This level has no boss and is loosely themed around three-dimensional illusions.

Layout

Start

The level begins with a simple black and white background and calm attacks including lasers, circular figures made out of squares, and bullets coming from the sides of the screen. Lyrics appear on screen throughout this section and subsequent ones. At the end of this section, the level suddenly transitions to a blue theme with a background that appears to circle around a central pillar (pictured in the thumbnail). Blue bars cover the top and bottom of the screen.

Checkpoint 1

The blue bars slowly start to move in waves as the screen sways. Snake-like figures made of circles approach from both sides of the screen. At the center, the player must dodge droplets of water that fall from the top and "splash" into the blue bars below. The circular background lights up to the beat of the song. Once this section ends, the background and the pillar suddenly begin to rotate. It looks as if the screen is circling a 3D space.

Checkpoint 2

The screen moves to the right as the background spins. Spikes emerge from the left and the player must dodge obstacles that slowly build up, including comet-like bullets from the right, blue bars that quickly extend, and bombs. Lyrics continue to be displayed, with one line circling around the pillar in 3D. The level transitions to the next section as everything fades to white and disappears, except for one of the pillars which turns green and quickly grows to cover the whole screen. This creates the background for the next part, which now uses a green theme.

Checkpoint 3

This section is similar to the start in that it is calmer. Lasers appear and move in a direction indicated by arrows, first appearing vertically and then also horizontally. Spinning triangles that appear and disappear are also an obstacle in this section. At the end of this section, all of the squares in the background converge into the center and form a bigger square which emits a ring of projectiles. The screen quickly zooms into the square and transitions to the next 3D part.

Checkpoint 4

Green square outlines grow from the center of the screen, making it appear as if the screen + player is traveling through a tunnel that extends into the background. Square projectiles emerge from the back of this tunnel until they reach the foreground, where the player must dodge them. Some of these squares flash white to indicate they are bombs. Eventually, spinning bars also emerge from the background like the square projectiles. At this section's end, the tunnel suddenly speeds up and many projectiles appear before the screen fades to black.

Checkpoint 5

A spinning white square appears at the center as the level is back to a black and white theme. The square gradually grows and starts to emit square outline pulses to the beat, eventually emitting bullets as well. The square spins faster as the song builds up, culminating in it hitting the right side of the screen as the level flashes into a Just Shapes and Beats style theme.

Checkpoint 6

This section of the level is a reference to Into the Zone, which features the same leitmotif. The first part of the level is recreated, featuring projectiles coming from the sides and rounded bars coming from the top/bottom. The "vaporwave" walls from the second part of the level then appear as bars and projectiles continue to appear. Square outlines emerge from the background and travel into the foreground as they rotate and move up/down, creating one final 3D effect.

Trivia

  • Immune is currently MotionIII's favorite level that he has worked on.[1]
  • MotionIII originally got the idea for the spinning section from imagining what a level using "The World Revolving" by Toby Fox could look like.[1]
  • This is the first of MotionIII's levels to feature special thanks/credits at the end.
