My entry for the Project Arrhythmia level contest! I hope y'all enjoy this one, this was fun to make!

Let's Stomp is a level created by Mc-Starz for the 2020.1 Level Contest. Following the contest’s theme of “no boss”, the level features no boss characters and instead features a light blue theme throughout.

Layout

Start

The level starts with tiny bullets that move to the left and square attacks that appear randomly, with these attacks followed by tilted beams. The screen narrows horizontally and triangle-shaped bullets and bombs spawn. A square appears in the center and summons various attacks including beams and bullets with spiral-shaped paths.

Checkpoint 1

Two large horizontal visualizer-like walls appear. Beams and bombs also appear as attacks. A square appears in the center and shoots trails of arrows alongside bullets. The attacks repeat, with the walls being vertical instead of horizontal.

Checkpoint 2

Keep it up!

A pulsing wall appears at the bottom, with bullets moving left and rights as bombs attack onscreen. The visualizer is then replaced with walls on the left and right, as the direction of the bullets changes and bombs appear from the sides.

Checkpoint 3

A square arena closes in on the player, limiting the safe area. Bombs appear as it rotates, with lasers eventually joining in.

Visualizers appear on the left and right, followed by a few beams and two much bigger projectiles. A square reappears with its pool of attacks, i.e. bullets, beams, but also long-lasting beams that rotate with its parent object. It then disappears in a flash of light while rotating.

Checkpoint 4

Break time

The music slows down and sets of spotlight-like lasers attack. When the break ends, bullets attack from both sides. The square from earlier appears, shooting projectiles and narrow beams. It shortly disappears, and beams lead the rest of the checkpoint spawning in pairs, one horizontal and one vertical.

Checkpoint 5

The central square appears again, spawning narrow beams. It splits into four parts and fires two giant beams, before merging back together. The square also sprays dozens of bullets and repeats these attack patterns as the song builds up.

Checkpoint 6

Here we go!

The play area is once again reduced to a small square zone, with lasers big and small appearing in it. Midway through, the box disappears and a circular music visualizer spawns in the center with a headphones icon on it. Beams keep spawning, with ones from the center rotating and persisting throughout the checkpoint. The circle in the center disappears after releasing some bullets.

Checkpoint 7

We’re almost there!

Bullets and bombs once again lead this checkpoint’s attacks. Midway through, the square appears radiating with projectiles and summoning massive beams.

Checkpoint 8

A square now creates two long-lasting beams, which rotate around it as it sends out bullet rings. Midway through, the bullets cease. Instead, bombs and beams appear. At the end, the square rapidly rotates until it disappears - with the level credits appearing soon after.
