Layout

Start

The camera zooms into a stage that appears to be stylized as a puppet theater. The curtains open and the paper doll boss enters the scene, held by a stick that extends to the bottom of the stage. The doll moves to the right and throws a piece of paper up which unfolds into a throwing star that moves to the left. Simultaneously, smaller paper dolls pop in from the sides of the stage and throw paper pinwheel projectiles. Next, the doll summons two paper guns which shoot and then fall off-screen. The next object the doll summons is a sword which quickly flies across the screen multiple times. The doll throws two more paper objects from the sides of the stage and four other objects fall from the top. This attack happens twice, after which the doll appears in the middle and two paper saws fly in on both sides from the bottom.

Checkpoint 1

The small paper dolls continue to throw pinwheels as another sword is summoned that flies across the stage. The doll then makes a paper boomerang which is thrown off-screen and shortly returns. Next, a laser gun is constructed which fires three shots. After this, the attack from the prior section is repeated where two objects fly in from the sides and four fall from the top. This time, the attack is repeated four times before the saws appear on both sides once more.

Checkpoint 2

The paper doll lifts up from its stick and now floats at the center of the stage. White bullets appear in the corners and spin before flying towards the doll, causing rings of bullets to emerge from the doll. Eventually, the doll morphs into a white ball made of many elliptical rings and starts bouncing across the screen, moving right and left as more white bullets fly into it.

Checkpoint 3

The white ball stops at the center and shoots out smaller white balls. Two rows of white circles also appear on either side of the ball and rotate with the ball, forcing the player to either dash or look for an opening in the rows. This attack happens three times before the white ball turns back into the paper doll, which is now able to move its two paper hands.

Checkpoint 4

The doll flies across the screen a few times before summoning four more objects to fall using their hands. This happens 3 times before the doll quickly summons a barrage of objects seen previously, including a gun, boomerang, rocket, star, and sword. The doll's hands now appear to move more sporadically as another four objects fall from the top. The doll then brings in a giant circular piece of paper and draws a pentagram on it. The doll moves to the center and transforms back into the white ball.

Checkpoint 5

The ball once again moves to the left and right around the stage, this time shooting the white bullets instead of absorbing them. At one point, the ball goes off-screen to the left and reemerges from the right. At the end of the level, the stick that originally held the doll reappears as the ball morphs back into the doll and reattaches itself to the stick. The doll exits as the curtains close.

Trivia

  • The paper saws may be a reference to the saws that appear at the same moment in the level of the same name in Just Shapes and Beats.
  • The top of the puppet theater (seen briefly at the level's start) has a design of two happy/sad faces that resemble Nowo.
