Opening

The level opens with “NOT Black Heart” text, similarly to other Gyntening levels. The heart changes into Shade’s flower, and the screen begins to scroll right. There are a few lasers to be dodged here. Eventually, the screen will reach the door to Shade’s mansion, and the player will enter it.

When inside, Shade introduces herself. During her introduction, some bullets appear, but they’re easy to dodge.

Checkpoint 1

Shade teleports, leaving behind a bullet explosion. She begins to attack by dashing into furniture to possess it, stopping midway through to send down candles from above, leaving a piano to fall down in the middle. She then continues with the furniture attacks.

Checkpoint 2

A giant chandelier covers the top half of the screen, with Shade swinging it around. It sends out tons of bullets in all directions while possessed chairs dance their way across the bottom of the screen.

Checkpoint 3

Perry appears and traps Shade, momentarily saving the player. Some Spoopy Bois drift across the screen as minor obstacles. Halfway through this section, all the Spoopy Bois quickly dash away, and furniture begins to fall from the ceiling. Perry barely manages to avoid the first few attacks, but eventually is hit when chairs come flying at him from all sides. Shade breaks free from Perry’s ghost-busting gear and possesses him.

Checkpoint 4

This part is the fight against Possessed Perry. He will shoot fire beams from his ghost vacuum, swiping across half the screen. Halfway through, six knight statues appear and throw their swords upwards, with Perry forming a fire barrier on the top of the screen that releases bombs. He then continues to shoot fire beams, and the knights appear again.

Checkpoint 5

Perry explodes as Shade jumps out of his body. She throws knives across the screen from both sides then possesses an animal statue, sending giant spiked balls from it. She dashed across the left and right of the screen, throwing the knives towards the center. Shade finishes by slamming furniture to the floor. She places her flower next to her, laughs, and runs away as the flower grows to take up half the screen.

Checkpoint 6

A final chase sequence with Shade’s Flower. The screen scrolls to the right as the giant flower chomps up chairs that fly into it. Several additional attacks appear as well, from a stove spitting out fireballs to a toaster shooting spooky toast and even a lamp firing a laser.

Checkpoint 7

Myst appears and warns Shade to go to bed, as the player escapes the mansion. The level ends with a credits screen.

Trivia

  • This level was marked as incompatible with Project Arrhythmia on the Steam Workshop due to massive lag issues caused by its high object counts and spawns.
  • The two parts of this level that have been pinpointed as with the most lag are the chandelier section and the knight statue attack.
  • Spoopy Boi and a lumberjackedtree are both seen in the thumbnail.
  • This level was originally called Poor Gont when it was made solely for the Peer Gyntening, but ol666 decided to change it when he thought his best level shouldn't have a joke name. It still has it as an unofficial name in the Steam Workshop.
