Description
Oh boy, at long last, the Power Trip collab is done. A collaboration between DXL44, Terminace, -Galactica-, Minemaker0430, and -Seanski2-, prepare for an excellent level.

Power Trip is a collab level created by DXL44, -Galactica-, Minemaker0430, Terminace, and -Seanski2- (also known as the "Venipede Gang"[1][2]). The collab has no central theme but has two parts using mostly red colors. DXL44, Minemaker0430, and Terminace's parts have no boss, while Galactica and Seanski2's use Square Gun Man.

Power Trip started production in July 2020, and took 2 months to finish. Before release, it was teased with a trailer on DXL44’s YouTube channel. Notably, it is also Terminace’s first uploaded level.

Layout

Opening (DXL44)

The level starts with red triangles spawning across the screen the player has to dodge. There are also some lasers synced to the drums and bass sounds. Some walls with cannons on them then appear and shoot lasers. Shapes with cannons also appear and attempt to shoot the player. This is followed by small lasers as attacks. After the screen zooms in, squares appear across the screen with the occasional drum-synced laser the player has to dodge.

Checkpoint 1 (Galactica)

Square Gun Man appears in the center of the screen and shoots rotating lasers while smaller cannons shoot bullets from the side. Square Gun Man also occasionally shoots out his own bullets. The checkpoint ends with Cookiez knocking Square Gun Man offscreen, with a short pause afterward.

Checkpoint 2 (Galactica)

Square Gun Man slowly chases the player down a corridor of spikes while shooting bullets. There are a bunch of smaller bombs shooting out clusters of bullets and cannons that appear at the top and bottom of the screen.

Checkpoint 3 (Minemaker0430)

The top and bottom of the screen are filled with two walls, as square-shaped bars attack in the center of the screen.

Checkpoint 4 (Minemaker0430)

A hexagon appears in the center and shoots out bullets briefly, with a “Charging” bar appearing above where it was as the chroma effect increases greatly. At the end of the section, text warning about the “core” in the background overloading appears and the screen zooms in, with the walls falling out of view.

Checkpoint 5 (Minemaker0430)

The camera zooms out as vertical lasers attack alongside smaller square pulses. Halfway through, the camera begins pulsing to the beat of the music, requiring the player to be closer to the center of the screen in order to avoid being pushed into an attack near the edges. The part ends with the level zooming in as the core starts spinning, with text saying “Startup successful”?

Checkpoint 6 (Terminace)

you want fun? Terra will show you fun.
- Terra, Power Trip (Venipede Gang)

A square in the center of the screen creates four bars and rotates counterclockwise. A spinning spiked ball rolls across both the left and right edges of the screen, followed by a triangle attack in the center. Three lasers appear on both the left and right sides of the triangle afterward, with the square spinner attack returning and rotating in the opposite direction. The camera zooms into a red circle for a brief break, which quickly ends after one second. Four triangles shoot down from the top of the screen, and a square appears in the center shooting out a short spiral of bullets. Afterward, the camera quickly transitions into a scene with Terra chasing the player down a hallway, requiring them to move quickly to the right to avoid damage. The same triangle attacks appear again, this time from the bottom, followed by more bullet spirals attacking from a shape in the center. The checkpoint ends with a short pause in the action where an “error message” appears.

Checkpoint 7 (Terminace)

Groups of squares appear in a line on the edges of the screen, moving to the other side once finished. Squares also appear on both sides at once as well. Halfway through, square bombs start to appear alongside the other attacks, shooting out four thin bullets each.

Checkpoint 8 (Seanski2)

The screen slowly fades back into view from black, with the player inside of a triangle with small triangle pulse attacks. The triangle disappears and Square Gun Man’s Spirit begins attacking from the top. Bullets begin to rise from the bottom of the screen as the Spirit sweeps across the screen with a laser while rotating counterclockwise and moving left and right. After sending out an explosion from the center, the Spirit starts to move across the screen, stopping to swell with another laser and then shooting a laser while rotating in the center. With one last explosion, Square Gun Man’s Spirit disappears with the Power Trip logo taking his place, as the level’s credits show.

Trivia

  • The level thumbnail and color theme in DXL44's part were both based on the song art for Power Trip, which has a similar red power button.
  • The Loading and Rebooting progress bars in Minemaker0430’s part both can damage the player, despite not being attacks.

Easter Eggs

  • In the middle of -Galactica-'s part, some text will appear, a direct reference to the level Power Trip in Geometry Dash Subzero. The text is set to be one of 5 random messages from the level:
    • "Oh no..."
    • "Not again..."
    • "Get ready..."
    • "Why u do dis..."
    • "Rubrub?"
  • The binary numbers in Terminace's part translate to "Dorito".
  • “Error Code 421” in Terminace’s part is a reference to the Geometry Dash Episodes, a series co-created by Terminace that the collab’s members met each other through.
  • The scene with Terra chasing the player is a reference to the “Wario Apparition” meme.
