Red Haze (Noodlekin)
Wiccan had found out about Ophelia's death, and he's sought out to attack the player for revenge. (Thank you Starrlet for the thumbnail!)
Red Haze is a Moderate difficulty level created by Noodlekin. It is the second level of the Heartstrings collection, and introduces the antagonist character Wiccan. Red Haze is also Noodlekin's first level uploaded to the Steam Workshop.
Layout
Start
With the start of the level, two waveform vizualizers slowly appear on left and right sides, acting as borders. Spontaneously individual bars will cross the screen and rotating, triangular bombs will appear and shot three bullets followed by disappearing. Vizualizers then will disappear.
Checkpoint 1
Wiccan appears and begins talking to the player in a dialogue section, explaining how Pilate told him that they killed Ophelia. There is no gameplay in this section until the end - Wiccan finishes by plunging offscreen to the bottom, leaving giant red waves behind.
Checkpoint 2
Wiccan emerges from the red waves, shooting two fireballs. He then proceeds setting borders while two triangular bombs and many vertical fire beams appear. Next, Wiccan summons three orbiting fireballs and arcs across the screen. Another two bombs appear when his fire beams stop. Droplets start falling from the ceiling, and Wiccan summons more waves that four fire beams burst from. Five rotating pentagrams appear in random positions, and Wiccan leaves the screen while the waves fade out.
Checkpoint 3
Two wave walls appear on the left and right edges of the screen. As they attack with red bars, triangle bombs attack from across the space between them. Midway through, fireballs start to fall from the top of the screen to attack.
Checkpoint 4
A rotating pentagram appears on the center, shooting tiny beams from its points. Droplets fall from the top of the screen as waves rise from the bottom, covering half the screen. The pentagram dissapears as the screen begins scrolling up, with horizontal lasers appearing.
Checkpoint 5
The screen stops moving as bars begin to attack from the waves. Wiccan returns from the waves with a splash, closing off the top of the screen and summoning two pillars of fire. Another five pentagrams appear briefly afterwards, and bars continue to rise from the bottom. Wiccan then vanishes leaving three fireballs rotating inside of a triangle helper. He shoots fireballs from the left, right, and then the center afterwards. He summons two larger pentagrams on the left and right sides of the screen, rotating them faster untill everything but Wiccan vanishes. Seemingly crying a red tear, Wiccan expresses how he misses Ophelia and leaves to finish the level.
