Description

A blast from the past rematch with a classic boss!

Thank you chettodust for the thumbnail :D

Subvert is a Moderate difficulty level created by DXL44. It is a fan level for the Pixel Party boss, and acts as a sort of “rematch” taking place sometime after the original level Pixel Party.

Layout

Start

The level opens with a flash. A rotating, orange square is in the middle of the screen, while beams come out of it. Text appears introducting the level. It starts with a 'traditional' style, with no backgrounds, minimal effects, and text that instantly transitions to the next. However, it soon transitions into a more 'modern' style, using more effects, a background, and the text now uses an elastic easing to transition to the next.

Walls appear on the sides, with the Pixel Party boss in the middle. Horizontal beams appear as well. The boss then shrinks, and pulsates as beams and bullets come out of it. Square pulses soon come in as well.

8 bullets spread into a circle come out of the boss. Walls come out of the sides, bottom and the top soon after, as the Pixel Party boss takes form. The walls disappear as the boss forms their hands into an upside down 'U' shape.

Checkpoint 1

The boss fires a beam out of their hands, before jumping up and firing 8 beams. The boss then moves down, left, up, and right. Covering most of the sides of the screen. The boss disappears, and reappears in the middle of the screen and forms two nubs at their sides, before firing bullets out of them. The Pixel Part Boss jumps up, and transforms into a drill-like shape, and shoots down. Soon after, the boss travels across the screen at a fast speed, before ramming down into the bottom of the screen, shooting out several beams from the crash.

The boss goes to the middle, spins, and repeats their attacks, but mirrored. After this, the boss jumps up and fires 8 beams again, before performing their next attack

Checkpoint 2

A circular arena encloses the player and the Pixel Party boss, the boss and their hands spin, as the hands reach in and outwards to the beat. Bullets come out of the arena as well. Soon after, the boss adds two hands to their other sides. After this attack, the boss disappears.

The Pixel Part boss reappears and appears to duplicate themselves at the top and bottom of the screen, before all duplicates assume their drill-like form to rush at the opposite side. The boss then reappears at the middle of the screen and grows. Beams shoot out of them as triangles fire spreads of three bullets at the sides of the screen. The boss performs their duplicate drills attack again, before reappearing, looking angry, and going up to the top of the screen. The boss then attaches themselves to the sides of the screen, and is about to fire a screen-wide attack. However, the Pixel Party boss is stopped by the blue, friendly character from the original level. The blue character reminisces on the time they've last seen The player, and tells them that if the player ever needs help against the Pixel Party boss again, they just give the blue character a call.
