Description
This is the worst art museum i've ever been to, it doesn't even have a gift shop

that's art. is a level created by Umbra. It is the first part of the art story. and introduces the boss Clotho. The majority of the level uses a minimalist theme, with a white background and black or colorful attacks.

Layout

Start

At first, the level is framed by black rectangles. When blinking helpers appear, the camera is tilted and zoomed in as the colors are desaturated. Rectangle lasers fill up the space on the left and right sides. A black square is formed in the center, which shortly becomes multicolored and transforms into a simple outline. The square in the center sends out pairs of bullets, initially going simply across the screen horizontally but then sending two pairs that change direction shortly after appearing. This section ends with the left and right sides of the screen filled with rectangles again, in a similar manner to the opening.

Checkpoint 1

The section after the first checkpoint is focused on maze-like gameplay. The screen starts by scrolling up, with a door opening in a wall above to reveal a path through. This path is broken off with a turn to the level quickly, with the following section having triangles that must be navigated through diagonally. After this, the maze has several bars that need to be dashed through and another precision movement triangle section.

Checkpoint 2

Circles with arrows pointing to opposite directions appear the on left and right sides, shooting black or colorful beams. Soon after, black squares start falling from above, hitting the bottom of the screen. The background turns black once the last square hits the ground, and multiple colorful circles start spraying from the middle of the screen’s top edge. Lastly, the beam-shooting circles reappear. The camera fades out and in as Clotho descends onscreen, with a comment asking you to “appreciate” the “art.”

Checkpoint 3

Clotho’s eye turns red and a pair of walls close in as she begins to attack. She starts by shooting colorful beams to cover the right side of the screen, then shoots out a cluster of shapes from her eye in the top left corner. Another burst of beams is shot from her hand, this time covering the left side, which she follows up with more bullets from her eye. She then shoots beams again, this time spread out across the center, followed by one final set of bullets.

Next, Clotho attacks less directly, bouncing at the top of the screen while there are other indirect attacks used. The attacks in order are bars from the walls, large squares falling from the top of the screen, more bars from the walls, and beam-shooting circles. Each set of attacks is broken with a pause where Clotho moves around and the camera rotates and zooms in.

In her final attacks, squares fall as Clotho moves down the middle of the screen to reappear at the top. When at the top, she begins dashing through the middle of the screen, as circles shoot beams from the left and right. Clotho then bounces into the top of the screen as more squares fall and a set of bars appear to her left. She disappears as a black circle expands and inverts the black and white colors of the level,

The level finishes with bars appearing on the left and right of the screen, with a square attack appearing in the center. A small border appears on the edges as well. On the second time appearing, the center square attack transitions into the credits for the level.
