Category:The Peer Gyntening
Welcome to the Gyntening!!!! I'm sorry I didn't make the collection sooner. I hope you all will enjoy this collection of purely peer gynt for your torture and my entertainment. All levels were made for this collection, thank you to everyone who participated in this collection collaboration. I hope to do another event like this in the future.
The Peer Gyntening, also known as simply the Gyntening, is a collaborative level collection event hosted by DIYDamian and Markuris.[1] The levels in the event are all rip-off versions of ol666’s Peer Gynt level. A total of 17 different creators took part in the event, including ol666 himself. The Peer Gyntening released all of its levels at once on April 11, 2020 - ol666's birthday.
History
Before the Gyntening, 8 levels featuring Peer Gynt as a song had been uploaded to the Steam Workshop. Many had noted this and joked about the fact, believing ol666's level was the cause due to his popularity within the community. However, this has also been credited to the nature of Peer Gynt as a usable song for a level - it is only about 2 minutes long, has varying elements and moods within its music, and the unique sounds and instruments featured allow a lot of creativity for level creators.
The idea for the Gyntening itself came from a conversation between DIYDamian and Markuris. After DIYDamian brought up the idea of releasing several levels with Peer Gynt as a response to complains about the song, Markurius had jokingly suggested that they all be rip-offs of ol666’s Peer Gynt.[1]
Description
While the levels are meant to be bootleg versions of ol666’s Peer Gynt, they are not meant to be exact clones. There are only a few basic requirements for a Gyntening level: [1]
- The boss has to be white and spooky.
- A savior character should appear before the second drop of the song that dies shortly after.
- The level must use the song Peer Gynt.
A few non-essential suggestions for levels have been made too. It was recommended that Gyntening levels have a vore joke or reference, for example (in order to reference Myst’s eating attack).[1]
