Cogsworth is a character by VoidUnknown. Appearing in his first level Grand Finale, Cogsworth takes an antagonist role and fighting against the player.

History

Background

Cogsworth was created by a wealthy corporation known as Stegan Industries. They were made of an alloy called Carbonic Chromide - composed of 75% Tungsten Carbide, 10% Lead, and 15% Chromium. The tungsten gives it tensile strength, and chromium provides surface hardness. Cogsworth's color comes from the yellow pigment Chromide - formed from a reaction between Lead, Chromium, and Oxygen. Although visually stunning, under intense heat it decomposes back into its elements and undergoes black body radiation, before eventually melting.[1]

Cogsworth was created for reasons still unknown, but it is known that Cogsworth was the second successful one of its kind. However, it was very quickly scrapped due to being almost psychopathic towards anything non-mechanical. [1]

Description

Appearance

Cogsworth is a yellow gear, with a mouth made of several rectangles. It has two hexagonal eyes and eight trapezoid-shaped gear teeth.

Personality

Cogsworth acts psychopathic towards anything not made of metal. Similar to the first successful attempt, they are very fond of gathering scraps of metal and using them to reinforce itself.[1]

Abilities

  • Firing lasers from eyes
  • Rolling across the screen
  • Able to weld metal scraps to itself for modification[1]

Relationships

  • Sprocket - Being the first successful attempt, Sprocket is envious of Cogsworth for reasons still unknown, but speculation suggests the source of envy is from taking the spotlight away from them. Cogsworth, however, has no idea they exist.[1]

Trivia

  • Using black body radiation, it can be determined that the temperature of Cogsworth’s eyes never gets colder than 3,000° F.
  • During the last phase of Grand Finale, the rest of Cogsworth heats up to over 1,300° F, turning it a bright orange/red.
  • Despite having shapes that represent teeth, Cogsworth cannot actually speak.
  • The name “Cogsworth” is a mashup of two of its characteristics; the fact its physical appearance is a cog, and the expensive material it was created with
