Virt is a character created by Luminescence. He is the main character of the Aetherborne Collection, which focuses on his journey into a virtual world. Virt first appeared in From Atoms to Pixels, and has returned in every Aetherborne level since.

History

In From Atoms to Pixels, Virt is transformed from a human-like appearance as he enters the virtual world of the Aetherborne collection. Despite apparent second thoughts, he continues onward and enters a portal after the transformation is complete.

Virt returns in Sherwood, where he is seen collecting a glowing diamond shape and leaving a forest. He also makes an appearance in Buttersweet Butterflies, where he first encounters a mysterious force inside the Aetherborne world during a nightmarish sequence. The level ends with Virt exiting a cave, visibly shaken by the events.

He once again appears in Chrysalism, which shows him taking shelter from a thunderstorm in a cabin. The same being from before continues to haunt him as he rests, until the storm stops and he continues his journey.

Description

Appearance

Virt's body is a black oval with six spikes pointing outwards from it. He has a large white eye with a light green and black pupil. He has two hands that resemble human hands, each a light blue color.

Trivia

• Due to the Aetherborne collection’s story mostly mirroring that of the Aetherborne album by Chime, Virt could be seen as a stand-in for the main character in it.
